The SMP Gateway streamlines the automation process and provides complete control. For example, it’s easy to add new devices without affecting control centers because it processes data locally. And due to the fact that the SMP is a central gateway, new centers connect to a single platform—SMP Gateway—and not to all substation devices. As it can operate in conjunction with virtually all IEDs, it provides a single point of access to all substation data, and can even push event files to the control centers. The SMP Gateway also features access security and data encryption to create an electronic perimeter that meets NERC CIP requirements. The SMP Gateway will help utilities moving towards the Smart Grid and comply with the requirements of this new market reality.

Yukon Visual Transmission & Distribution (T&D) HMI SCADA

Yukon Visual T&D is a smart monitoring and control alternative to traditional SCADA. Many utility customers want the benefits of a SCADA system, but do not have the resources to implement a complicated project or to staff a 24x7 control room. Visual T&D provides a scalable, pre-configured, easy-to-use alternative.

Visual T&D is an application that continuously monitors substation and distribution equipment operation and performance. It provides all of the information regularly provided by traditional SCADA systems in a way that is less complex and simpler to implement and use. The system collects a long-term, detailed operational history that allows utilities to understand their system operation and to plan maintenance and capital expenditure programs more efficiently. Visual T&D’s main features include:

• Intelligent notification of component events and alarms via pager, e-mail or text message with user-configurable event set-points
• System overviews with real-time visibility and control of remote assets

For utilities that wish to free themselves from installing a new system, Cooper Power Systems offers a turn-key solution that will provide the latest SCADA capabilities and a Visual T&D system that is operational the moment Cooper technicians leave the premises.

Complete System design

Cooper engineers and designers will work with the utility’s engineers and operations personnel to develop a system design that includes equipment configuration, software, database and display development, installation supervision, and support.

All necessary hardware provided

Our turn-key solution includes all required hardware, both in the office and in the field. This often includes upgrades for existing Cooper Power Systems equipment, field sensors, communications infrastructure, RTUs, and more.

Cooper’s hosted system or pilot program

For utilities without IT departments or who prefer not to install Visual T&D on local servers, Cooper offers a Visual T&D Browser system. The hosted system collects substation data and stores it on commercial secure servers. Utilities have access to all of their data online via the Internet from any location. All that is required is a Web browser. Cooper’s flexible roll out program permits the installation of Visual T&D Browser at one or two locations initially, and allows bringing additional substations online as budget or operating conditions allow.

Cooper also offers a pilot program that allows utilities to test the system before purchasing it. Cooper will install Visual T&D Browser at a substation of choice to provide an opportunity for a utility to evaluate the software and hardware package for up to a year.
